Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge to Be Available in Gold-Plated Versions

What’s life without a little luxury? It’s already been a couple of weeks since Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, and the tech giant is jumping ahead of its competition with plans to release some gold-plated models soon. These variants are naturally going to be very expensive.

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 is the tech giant’s latest flagship, which was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The device has two main forms: the standard S6 and the S6 Edge, which features two curved edges. Two of the biggest disadvantages that this phone has are the lack of a micro SD memory card slot and the presence of a non-removable battery, but Samsung have tried to make up for the former problem by releasing both variants in three storage options: 32, 64, and 128GB. On top of these three storage options, it looks like Samsung might add another interesting variation: the gold-plated Samsung Galaxy S6, along with its curved variant, the S6 Edge. A platinum option is also in the works, similar to devices like the Apple iPhone 6 or the HTC One (M7).The initial release date remains April 10th, and the flagship device is set to be released in over 20 countries on that, but the identities of those countries remain unknown.

Anyway, you can pre-order one of these expensive devices from Goldgenie on the 7th of April, and each variation costs $2,453 USD. Each device will be shipped in a luxurious cherry oak display case, which is quite fancy. These deluxe variants usually tend to do quite well in the Asian market, where they represent prestige and wealth. They have the same features as their regular counterparts, the only difference being the aesthetics. We saw a lot of golden devices being sold last year, particularly coming from Apple, and most of those sales were in China, so Samsung will probably make a nice bit of money from these gold-plated editions.
